Dear Parents,
The month of September has been very busy in the grade Two French classes. We have reviewed numbers and colors, sang the alphabet and vowels songs and learned new vocabulary about things we use in the classroom. Also, the children have enjoyed playing games and participating in different oral activities. Every day, the children are invited to take part in discussions, to share information or to answer simple questions. I encourage your child to always participate in the oral activities in order to gain confidence and to improve her/his skills in asking and answering questions and in sharing simple information using familiar vocabulary.
In October, we will be studying seasonal themes such as Fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween. We will discuss what a special time Thanksgiving is and talk about sharing and being thankful for everything we have. We will also begin our Social Studies Unit about People and environments: Global Communities.
In reading, the students are learning new sounds (“on”, “ch” ), words and sentences containing these specific sounds. We will explore and complete different oral and written activities in class related to each sound. Your child will bring home their “Duo-tang de lecture” (reader) and will be encouraged to share and read with you (review the sounds of the letters of the alphabet, thematic vocabulary, sentences, songs, poems, short texts). Also, the students have shown interest in working in different written activities and are learning to follow all instructions to complete assigned tasks.
Merci,
M. Tanguay
