HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!
Welcome back! I hope that you had a restful holiday and a wonderful time with your families.
We are ready to begin the first month of the year with a new theme about Winter. We will explore, discuss and learn new French vocabulary and structures through readings, oral and written activities, games, songs.
In reading, the stories in the French reader are:
“Une compétition”
“Vive le Bal de Neige!”
I will continue to encourage the children to read their stories every night in order to continue to improve their skills and to become more confident in reading instructions, questions, and short texts in French.
In January, we will learn, practice and apply different verbs in a variety of oral and written activities in order to develop writing skills. The children are encouraged to use resources in the classroom as well as success criteria chart to guide their work.
«aller» (to go) Je vais…….
Je vais.......... Je vais à…… Je vais au……… Je vais chez……
Je vais à la maison. Je vais à l'aréna. Je vais à l'église.
Je vais au restaurant. Je vais au magasin. Je vais au cinéma.
Je vais chez mon ami. Je vais chez grand-maman. Je vais chez le dentiste.
«faire» (to do) Je fais...
Je fais mon travail. Je fais un fort.
Je fais ma lecture. Je fais du ski.
Je fais le ménage. Je fais un gros bonhomme de neige.
Je fais de l’exercice. Je fais de la raquette.
Je fais du sport. Je fais de la planche à neige.
«j'ai» (to have) J'ai faim. J'ai froid. J'ai chaud. J'ai soif. J'ai peur! J'ai mal à la tête. J'ai fini. J'ai hâte.
«Je suis» (to be) Je suis une fille. Je suis un garçon. Je suis malade.
Je suis en santé. Je suis en troisième année.
Je suis drôle. Je suis fatigué.
In Social Studies, we will explore and learn more about Pioneers in Ontario. I encourage your child to always participate (sharing ideas, asking and answering questions) during class discussions.
Again , thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
