The month of September has been very busy in the Grade One French classes. We reviewed numbers and colors, sang the alphabet and vowels songs and learned new vocabulary about things we use in the classroom. Also, the children have enjoyed playing games and participating in different oral activities.
In October, we will be studying seasonal themes such as Fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween. We will discuss what a special time Thanksgiving is and talk about sharing and being thankful for everything we have. Also, we will begin our first unit in Social Studies: My Neighbourhood. We will explore each theme through songs, games and a variety of oral and written activities. I encourage your child to always participate in the oral activities in order to gain confidence and to improve their skills in asking and answering questions and in sharing simple information using familiar vocabulary.
Attached, you will find a list of sounds, vocabulary related to a sound or a theme, songs and poems. Please, ask your child to share with you what they learned and know in French!!
Thank you so much for all your support. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
